Crud I missed it. The tour was in Knoxville on Sept4th. It looks like they had it at Neyland stadium during the game. Guess I will have to wait till the carry them in the stores.

Thank you! I got my coupon. Can’t wait to try it. Looks good.

  3. Adam says:

I was able to sample the new Artisan buns when they were testing them on chicken in Utah. Liked them a lot. Not sure on the new burgers. I think they are fattier, so hopefully, that means better 🙂

My local Wendy’s has had the new thicker meat patties and premium toppings for about 3 months now, not only does the hot’n juicy come with this thicker meat patty and premium toppings. The bacon deluxe does as well. I always order the bacon deluxe combo but the bread is never the same, sometimes I get this flimsy thin bread, looks like the one you get on the 99cnt burgers, and sometimes I get a nice big roll type bread with what looks like cornmeal on top… I’m not sure if they run out or don’t know what they are doing but I think if I’m paying $7.00 for a premium combo, they need to get it right each time!

  5. We have had these in the Hampton Roads are of Virginia all summer and they are soo yummy. My husband says they are the best burgers he has ever had from a fast food place and my mom and I agree. They really are a step up from all other fast food burgers and the buns have a really good taste to them, they arnt just there to hold the burger, the do contribute lol. I cannot finish the double it is soo huge and for once a fast food company actually makes a product as advertised because these things are really juicy which is not something Im used to at the drive thru.

Hopefully Dave came back to haunt the folks that ran his chain into the ground after his passing.

Good to see them getting back to their roots with the burgers. Now if they could get their old chili back they might shore up their sales.

While I realize that FF places try to be all things to all people, I still think it is important to do one thing really well so when people think “I want a good (fill in the blank)”, an establishment comes to mind. Wendy’s was good burgers and chili when Dave was around (well, they were also buffet bar but I don’t eat buffet). It would be nice if they could recapture that.

I’ve worked for wendy’s for years. In fact, I have actually met Dave thomas, several times at several of my stores. I’m sorry to tell you that our chili recipe actually IS the same as when Dave thomas was here. We even use the same brand of ingredients. I’m sorry you aren’t enjoying it as much.

      • larry says:

Hi Marie – Thanks for that feedback. I was actually speaking of the quality of the chili..not the recipe. Apologies that I wasn’t clear on my comment.

It seems to me that the products (specifically the meat) that made up the chili was higher quality in the past. For many years now it has been mealy and grainy in texture which to me usually signifies a lower quality ground beef or even perhaps re-used hamburgers.

I don’t know how long you have been there but to your knowledge, has there been a change in those areas that you can recall?

        Larry

    These actually look good.
I would like to try one.
Maybe this is the burger that will restore my faith in Wendy’s.

  8. kikurage says:

Dave’s Hot Triple looks very very good. But it’s 1060 calories.
I will hegitate to order it.

  9. somesteve says:

looks good. named after the man himself- Dave Thomas.

  10. Raiders757 says:

We’ve had the newer patties and presentation for almost a year now. I much needed improvement for sure. Now one of our local joints has been ripped apart to make way for a new look store that’s being tested.

  11. DM Rockel says:

This is terrible. I tried one last night.
It was the same meat as used for the old patties.
Those of you commenting on the taste apparently hadn’t been to a Wendys before. Yes I got those stupid crinkle cut pickles, but that was a so what. I got a normal tomato normal hamburger bun and shredded lettuce.
It was even on the Menu board. They are simply trying to save on toppings. After this becomes normal they will get rid of the big tomato premium bun to save money.
Seriously did Dave Thomas ever do a thick burger.

All of this after getting rid of the chewy grill bacon.
You can get crunchy bacon anywhere.
That’s why they did the baconesque commercial with baconesque being preferred by 20% of prison inmates.
Then they go with fake bacon like everyone else.
If they want to go premium put the sandwiches and bacon back the way they were before they messed with them. Maybe make dijon mustard an option if they need some change.
Dave’s probably rolling over in his grave.

  12. […] 1) Dave’s Hot ‘N Juicy Cheeseburgers the “improvement” to the regular single, double, triple setup boosts premium toppings and a beefier patty with a toasted bun. Bigger burger good, “toasted” untoasted bun not so much, and a mess to eat. […]

  13. Leisa smith says:

I do not like new thicker fries–they are never crispy
I am gluten intolerant so I never eat the bun. Before now, I only liked the beef patty from Wendy’s and from steak n shake. You know the exact flavor of the meat when u eat it alone without the bread. WHAT HAPPENED to the fresh flavor of the meat??? It says it has no fillers but it tastes either frozen and formed or like it has fillers &/or seasonings to compete with the flavor.
Also, the last time I ordered the chili, it was so watered down. More beans, few pieces of meat, and watery broth.
I know food costs more now, but I would rather have hi’er prices than to change the flavor and quality of the foods. Please reconsider ur changes and dont try any other changes.
So far the frostys are OK. Dont try to make them diet. If people are ultra concerned with health, there are other things on ur menu. OR, they should avoid fast food c
