Food News: Wendy’s Going “Artisan” with Chicken, adding New Frostys
Big news out of Wendy’s this week. with the chain looking to upgrade its chicken menu and poised to take two new frosty combinations nationwide. As reported by BurgerBusiness.com, Wendy’s is testing at least three new chicken sandwiches: the Bruschetta Chicken (430-560 calories), the Bistro Cheddar Chicken (480-590 calories), and the Spicy Chipotle Crispy Chicken (410 calories). The former two items are testing in Salt Lake City, Utah and Columbus, Ohio, while the Spicy Chipotle Crispy Chicken is being tested in the Dallas, Texas area. According to Wendy’s nutritional information, other chicken sandwiches may be available in certain markets, including a value menu Monterey Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich, as well as Buffalo and BBQ Dipped Chicken Sandwiches.
I stopped into my local Wendy’s the other day and was able to get the scoop on many of these items, and snap some photos. Apparently, Wendy’s has gone “Artisan” with the new premium chicken sandwiches, introducing a bakery-fresh, butter-toasted bun in addition to promising a whole breast filet and fresh veggies. These changes can be applied to any Premium Chicken Sandwich (Grilled, Homestyle, or Spicy). As for the new Bruschetta Chicken and the Bistro Cheddar Chicken, the bellow picture shows the construction of each, which were priced at $4.49 and $4.69, respectively, in my area.
I also spoke to a Wendy’s employee at the location, who confirmed that two new Frosty treats are soon to come. An advertisement in the restaurant confirms this – although I apologize for the picture not coming out. Of course, I didn’t just stop in the take pictures and ask questions, and I did get a chance to sample one of these new menu items (ahem, my man Keith). A full review will come shortly, but for now, here’s a sneak peek:
