Taco Bell Testing Crispy Dipping Burritos

Thanks @JoeFromThePub on Twitter for the heads-up on Taco Bell’s new Crispy Dipping Burritos being tested in Hudson, Wisconsin (also found all around St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN).  New Crispy Dipping Burritos feature a mix of seasoned beef and cheese in a flour tortilla, then deep fried.  Priced at 2 for $2.99 with your choice of dipping sauce (reminiscent of Rolled Chicken Tacos).

    Chimichanga by another name.

    Or aka flautas.

I have tried these in the Minneapolis area. They are pretty good, but $2.99 is about 50 cents to a $1 too much.

There is a regional chain in the southwest called Taco Time that sells tasty fried burritos, which are pretty much like crispy flautas. If Taco Bell offers a bean version of these, it could be the ultimate solution. Dipping it in cheese sauce probably isn’t a good match, though.

This seems like it would sell. Surprised they hadn’t done this yet.

That sounds delicious! I love chimichangas. And having deep fried beef and or bean versions would be great to dip into cheese sauce. I hope these get a national release.

  7. looks more like an egg roll than a flauta. It is fried so I am guessing it is good.
