New Marshmallow Crispy Oreos and Cookie Dough Oreos

We’ve seen plenty of variety when it comes to Oreo cookies through the years and the latest feels long overdue.  Introducing the newest members to the Oreo family – Marshmallow Crispy Oreos and Cookie Dough Oreos.  Some places are carrying the new Oreos already, but expect to see them everywhere in February.

Cookie Dough OreosI’m a sucker for Golden Oreos and the Marshmallow Crispy Oreo impressed me.  The crunch of the crisped rice inside the cream isn’t too noticeable over the crunch of the cookie wafers, but the Rice Krispie Treat vibe comes through.  I don’t think much had to be done to nail the flavor of a Rice Krispie Treat and the Marshmallow Crispy Oreo succeeded for me.  The Cookie Dough Oreo didn’t taste enough like cookie dough to me and I think a big part of it is the chocolate Oreo cookie outside made the overall taste come off as almost mocha-like.  When you isolate the cookie dough cream with its specks of chocolatey chips, you get a tad closer to replicating cookie dough.  Overall I think both Oreo cookie flavors will have some fans.  Personally, I think both Oreos were delicious.  They will be around for a limited time so give them a try and let us know what you think.

The cookie dough Oreos are SUPER sweet and don’t taste anything like cookie dough – the filling is pretty much just brown sugar and butter. The lemon Oreos (also a limited release, I think) are soooooooo much better. Hope they keep those around!
