Jack’s Blazin’ Chicken Sandwich from Jack in the Box

Spotted at a Jack in the Box in California… Jack’s Blazin’ Chicken Sandwich.  Jack’s Blazin’ Chicken Sandwich features jalapeno peppers and ghost pepper sauce. This sandwich is currently in limited test locations. Here are some impressions and pics from GrubGrade reader BigBelly:  “The first time I ordered one, they put a Jack’s Spicy Chicken in the bag, but I caught them, so they told me to keep it, and then made me a Blazin’ Chicken Sandwich. This offered me a opportunity to compare the two, and they are pretty much the same sandwich, aside from the addition of so called “ghost pepper sauce” and I don’t think jalepenos come standard on a Jack’s Spicy Chicken”

Jack's Blazin' Chicken Sandwich“The sandwich itself was $4.59, but there’s a little sign above it that says “add jalepenos 60 cents”.  I asked if they came standard and was told yes (they show tons of them in the TV ad). I got maybe three hidden under a pile of lettuce. I grew ghost peppers this year, and the heat/taste just isn’t there in the ghost sauce; it has a smokiness to it, which is more indicative of a chipotle to me. I asked for extra ghost sauce to dip my onion rings into, so that’s what’s in the tub. The shaker bottle is me being pissed it isn’t spicy and sprinkling my own powder on it.”

Next time, take some Trinidad Moruga Scorpion puree with you to smear on that sandwich :P

Now fast food places are adopting the “ghost pepper”, or naga jolokia chili into their menus? Seriously? Of course it’s going to only *maybe* be as hot as a jalapeno. I’m not sure why this irritates me so much. Normally, I don’t care when fast food places adopt “hot” items, because it’s assumed they’re not going to be very hot to anyone other than my grandmother. If fast food places start opening up gas stations in their parking lots, the pumps will probably have butane in them, despite claiming it’s unleaded or diesel.
