  1. I’d love to try the Sweet Potato Pecan pancakes (I saw the picture on twitter and that’s what drew me in to this post! Looks good!).

    • Perry says:

They had them last year and they were actually pretty good. If you can’t finish them at the restaurant, take them home and put them in the fridge and eat em cold, they’re pretty dang good!

  2. Eric says:

I never got a chance to try it last time they had it, so I’d go with the Hobbit Hole Breakfast and a side of Sweet Potato Pecan Pancakes. I might have to go back and try that Bilbo’s Breakfast Feast though if the first trip impresses me.

  3. Kaylin says:

I would order one of those breakfasts with the honey cake French toast

  4. Curtis says:

One order of Sweet Potato Pecan Pancakes and one Bard’s Pumpkin Pie Milk Shake, please. Thanks.

  7. Mike says:

YES, the Hobbit hole breakfast is back. I will definitely have to make a trip to Denny’s soon. Love the way the egg breaks inside the cheese bun. It was great before and I was hoping it would make it onto the regular menu. Thanks

  8. BigBelly says:

I’d give Smaug’s Fire Burger a try, I just gotta know what “x-sauce” is LOL

I find the breakfast prices confusing, is Bilbo’s Breakfast Feast $7.99 + .49 +.49 for a total of 8.97 (because of two premium items)???
or, if a regular “pick four” is 6.59, and I upgrade it with Honey Cake French Toast and Hearty Breakfast Sausage wouldn’t it only be $7.57?

  9. CB says:

I would love to try the fire burger! Haven’t been to Denny’s in years.

  10. Kayla says:

I went to Denny’s before the premiere of An Unexpected Journey last year, sat and re-read my copy of the book, and had the Hobbit Hole Breakfast. It was so good! I think I have to try something different to start with this year, though, so I think I might do the Dwarves’ turkey and dressing dinner with some honey cake french toast for dessert. I can’t wait! Maybe I’ll bring the first Lord of the Rings book with me this time.

  72. Natalie J Vandenberghe says:

    Elven Woodland Pie (Pecan)

Sweet Potato Pecan Pancake or Honey Cake French Toast

  73. Anthony says:

Going for the Dwarves’ Turkey & Dressing Dinner and a slice of Elven Woodland Pie!

  74. drew martin says:

My wife and I got married last year about this time. Our first order of business the day after our wedding was to go to Denny’s and get a Hobbit Hole breakfast. We’ve been wishing for the Hobbit menu to come back and started shouting like kids when it was announced. Sure, it’s the same menu with funny names tacked on. But dammit, it brings us joy.

  75. Amy says:

I would enjoy Bilbo’s Breakfast Feast with a side of Smaug’s Fire Burger. Or i’ll eat like a true Hobbit and order everything. Yum, Yum, in my TumTum.

  76. Stephen K says:

  77. Oona says:

I would have to order Bilbo’s Breakfast Feast. With a stack of Sweet Potato Pecan Pancakes on the side. And an order of Red Velvet Pancake Puppies. For the table to share, right? Maybe I’d skip second breakfast that day, in the interest of maintaining my hobbity waistline. Maybe.

  78. Danielle says:

    The Hobbit Hole breakfast!

  79. Dannielle says:

I’m really sad that Gandalf’s Gobble Melt is not returning. I’d love to try that Pumpkin coffee and a stack of those pancakes.

  80. Andre says:

Build your own Hobbit slam. I always wondered what a Froddo taste like. Seriously, the Hobbit Hole piques my interest…

  81. First thing I think I’ll try: sweet potato pecan pancakes & Bowman’s brew pumpkin coffee!

  82. David L says:

The Hobbit Hole Breakfast looks like a good bet (and lots of positive comments from folks) and will have to add a couple Honey Cakes as well. I’m heading on a business trip with a friend and will have to see if there’s a Denny’s nearby for after the book festival ends or breakfast the next day.

  83. Elisa says:

I tried Bilbo’s breakfast feast. It was alright, but the meal sat in my stomach like cement afterward. I could tell the eggs used in the scramble were boxed, not fresh. The honeycake french toast was so sweet it made my teeth curl back. My husband ate the sausage for me and said it wasn’t bad but was very greasy. The hash browns were the best part of the meal. Done to perfection. Overall, a disappointment, but I suppose I should have expected that from Denny’s.

  84. Megan says:

So, my roommate has been looking forward to this for a very long time. Both the movie, and the return of the Hobbit menu at Denny’s. Looks like we know what we’re doing after the midnight release.

  85. Emily says:

We just got back from Denny’s. They didn’t offer cards or coins :( My husband and I ate the Dwarves Turkey dinner with Radagast’s red velvet puppies for desert and our son built his own Hobbit slam.

  86. Nick says:

    Hobbit Hole Breakfast (of course)!

  87. Tiffany says:

Hobbit hole is my folavorite from last year but I am super curious about that honey cake french toast so the grand slam is on my list to try this year :)

  88. Jess says:

Just had the sweet potato pancakes last night, A+ would order again. My fiance got the honey cakes, he expected more cake and less cornmeal, but I think they were good too.

  89. Jason says:

I had the Smaug burger and my wife the Hobbit Hole breakfast. And we shared the Bard’s Pumpkin Pie milkshake (which is awesome). Just disappointed there are no trading cards this year.

  90. Hobbit Fan says:

I miss the pumpkin pancakes. They’re better than the sweet potato pancakes with the carmelized pecans which make it an overkill of sweetness. I would pass on the honey cake next time too. Didn’t really care for the pumpkin coffee. Maybe I’ll like the pumpkin shake better.

I will be back for the Smaug burger and Turkey dinner though.

Also, want some of that Hobbit gold.

  91. thekrizzakboy says:

Hobbit Hole Breakfast and slice of pie. Nom nom nom.

  92. Susan Christy says:

I haven’t eaten at Denny’s in years but now they have remodeled the two we have left, so maybe I’ll have to give it a try. The food looks good in their commercials. I want the Smaug Burger & Pumpkin shake!!!

  93. Michelle Reynolds says:

I’ll take the Hobbit slam w/the Sweet Potato pancakes, bacon, eggs and oatmeal. Plus a pumpkin coffee.

  94. Valerie says:

Yesssss. I lived getting all of the trading cards last year!!!!

Today I ordered a Hobbit Slam: bacon (well done), pancakes, toast, hash browns and a hearty breakfast sausage.

    Boyfriend: Smog’s Fireburger

Brother-in-law: a big dose of jealousy when receiving a pic of the new hobbit menu!!!!

  95. Amy W. says:

I would order the Hobbit Hole breakfast.

  96. Schuyler Abrams says:

Oh maaaan! Can’t wait to try the fire burger. And i loved those returning items from last year! Are they doing trading cards again this time around?

  97. Melissa says:

Id get the Dwarves’ Turkey & Dressing Dinner and the Pumpkin Milkshake! Last year I got something along the lines of Frodos Pot Roast or something, I hope that comes back because it was delicious!

  98. […] Email me your contact info (GrubGrade at Gmail dot com) and I’ll send your prize this week.  Thanks to everyone who participated with their comments on the new Denny’s menu for The Hobbit. […]

  99. James Parker says:

I’d order all of it, and have second breakfast…and second lunch.

  106. Alexander says:

Smaug’s Fire Burger and a Bard’s Pumpkin Pie Milkshake.

  107. perry says:

So, after two trips to the new Hobbit menu, my verdict is thus: It’s not quite as good as it was last time. All of the previous items are just as good but the new replacements fall short of their predecessors. The seedcakes were much better than the new honey cakes which taste like diabetes. Don’t get me wrong, they’re good! They’re just overly sweet if you’re not ready for them. same for the new sweet potato pecan pancakes. Those two items are best served for breakfast out of the fridge. I’ll probably be getting the smaug burger next time but so far it seems like the old favorites are still awesome. The shire sausage is still great and Rhadaghast still knows how to work his magic with those pancake puppies. Careful you don’t inhale while eating them, you’ll choke on the sugar. overall a 3 1/2 out of 5. A must for any Hobbit fan going to the movies but if you’re just looking for a meal, you could pass this by. Depends on how tough your sweet tooth is though.

  108. I tried the hobbit hole breakfast and the pumpkin milkshake. My mom tried the slam and pumpkin coffee. My sisiter had the smaug’s fire burger. And my grandmother had Bilbo’s breakfast feast. We all sampled around, so technically I tried all of it.

  109. […] “Hobbit Hole Breakfast.” When Denny’s launched its recent hobbit-inspired menu in early November, we knew we had to try some of the new […]
