Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos Arrive in Taco Bell Restaurants March 7th
The wait is almost over for Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos. Today Taco Bell announced the Cool Ranch flavor of the popular Doritos Locos Tacos line will be available starting Thursday, March 7th. We all expected this, but now it’s official. Let’s see how Cool Ranch competes with the original.

It’s about time. I don’t understand why put something like this in test markets when it was clearly a smash hit with the nacho flavor and adding a familiar taste like cool ranch would easily be gobbled up by the masses.
Test marketing is just standard protocol. It’s possible (self included) that people may not like this version.

That’s exactly WHY they waited. The original were still selling very strongly. Cool ranch would’ve cut into their sales. Just capitalizing on the popularity
Looking forward to trying these out. Cool Ranch was my favorite Dorito type for years, and I think the tangy flavor will fit well with the tacos.
Don’t you just love chemically engineered flavors?
So will Spicy Nacho be next?
Can’t wait to try it. I guess I’m in the minority since everyone loves the original Loco taco but I can barely taste anything dorito-y about it. If it were up to me, I’d make a cheesy gordita crunch type deal with the dorito shell inside. And lava sauce. Ok I’m drooling someone send help and/or tacos plz.
Taco Bell is pretty accommodating and that one can be easily done I’m sure. Adding the doritos locos shell to any taco is an option for $.35 I think, but I’m not sure if they’ll charge for the lava sauce also. They’ll definitely make it though and the cheesy gordita crunch with the doritos locos shell is pretty awesome, I can verify.
How about a Taco Bell taco flavored Doritos Locos taco shell? Would that be like crossing the streams or talking to your younger self after taking the De Lorean for a spin?
I’m over the Doritos tacos. They’re nasty. I hate the powder that’s on them. Plus, they’re expensive. I don’t even think I’ll try one of these things. I’m just puking when I think about it.
Ditto that. The shells are not actually Doritos chips, which the marketing suggests, but regular taco shells dusted with Doritos seasoning. Who wants that salty, chem-laden junk on their mouth when eating a taco? Also, they typically sell for at least a 30¢ upcharge over the regular taco, which corporate seems to love. We’ve had these in Toledo for a while. I tried them to answer the curiosity, and now I just think they are heavy on the hype.
I’ve heard they also tested a spicy nacho shell in Toledo from a friend of mine who lives there.

I go to Bowling Green State University and we get all of the test products, cool ranch are good but Flamas are the best tacos by far (especially at 2:30 in the morning)
The Doritos tacos are good but the higher cost, extra brittle shell and inevitable orange fingers (even with that sleeve thing) are too much of a turn off for me. I’ll stick to meal deal #2, which comes with a small bag of Doritos, to get my fix. Naturally, I add an order of pintos and cheese to use as a “dip” for the Doritos. One of the best $3 meals around, IMO.
Ahh the Doritos Loco Taco. One of the most overrated items to hit fast food IMO. The shell doesnt taste like Nacho Cheese Doritos, it tastes like a generic “cheese powder” that makes it taste off. Also, I prefer not to get my fingers all full of said generic cheese powder when I eat a taco. I would rather have a regular hard shell than a Doritos shell. Also, I went to my local TB the other nite and wanted to get some Loaded Grillers. I see they upped the price to $1.29 from the $.99 introduction price now.
