February 2nd is Groundhog Day and here’s an excuse to celebrate. Footlong Hot Dogs are 1/2 price all day at Sonic.

These aren’t bad … but they taste more like salt than anything.
Only 1940mg of sodium. Which is only 81% of your daily recommended dosage.
I was surprised to see they had a Chicago-style dog, which is only 2310mg (96.25%) sodium. The pickle, relish, sport peppers & celery salt is what drives that up.
The 1940mg of salt in the one they have pictured say your taste buds are right. .. and that’s not even the saltiest dog they have.
Ehhh… I hate Sonic. I like their concept… but their food is just not good. And the commercials with the 2 guys makes me want to vomit.
Buuuuut, you can’t beat half price.
The hot dog Sonic uses is a little weird in taste and texture. I love a chili dog though but I make more appetizing ones at home using canned chili and beef hot dogs. And 54 grams of fat?!! That’s pretty crazy.
Damn I was considering taking up this offer until I read all the nutrition info. I’d rather make chili dogs at home with turkey and have leftovers than deal with this.
I’d eat 2-3 of these in a sitting! Yes I’m a right fat bastard and damn proud of it!
Just because you’re “overweight” doesn’t mean you’re automatically more unhealthy than a thin person, but what you’re doing by consuming that much sodium/fat/calories/etc in one sitting is not being a jolly fat guy. It’s suicidal behavior. Seriously. I mean this: seek help. It’s one thing to occasional enjoy fast food, but another to use it as a means of self-harm.
You give our kind a bad name.

I really only eat their onion rings and drink their Limeade. Decent restaurant, just way too many items on the menu to go through.
They changed their footlong about 2 years ago. It has a kind if metal taste even with the chili and cheese. When they first opened in lake Zurich Illinois they were great but I noticed the change and its not good. Poor quality. I’d have one a week if they would get a better dog.
You can see it in the picture, why is the cheese on their coney dogs always kind of rubbery? Chili cheese dogs are one of the few things I can actually make at home better than what I can buy somewhere.
