Dunkin’ Donuts Expanding to Southern California in 2015
Dunkin’ Donuts announced today that they will be expanding into southern California in a couple of years. The place that brought us such memorable products like Sausage Pancake Bites and the Waffle Breakfast Sandwich will stretch it’s efforts to my future home. Now if only In-N-Out could expand to the east coast…

Dunkin’ Donuts, America’s all-day, everyday stop for coffee and baked goods, and one of the fastest growing quick service restaurant (QSR) brands based on unit growth, announced today that it is expanding to Southern California. Dunkin’ Donuts has been strategically expanding in contiguous markets across the country with a long-term goal of having more than 15,000 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the United States alone. In addition, the company will continue to open new restaurants in existing markets.
Specifically, the company is recruiting multi-unit franchisees for Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, San Bernardino, Ventura and Orange counties and expects restaurants in these markets will begin to open in 2015. The company is also interested in identifying qualified food service operators for a wide range of non-traditional venues including colleges and universities, casinos, military bases, supermarkets, airports and travel centers.

Why does In ‘N Out refuse to expand? I’ve never had it but I constantly hear that it’s byfar the best fast food out there.
If they expanded nationally, they would lose their hype factor and more people will realize that, while definitely one of the better fast food places, it actually truly is just that: slightly above-average fast food and not the epitome of fast food that my-bowel-movements-don’t-stink Southern Californians make the entire solar system believe from their constant accolades.
Still waiting for them to open up in Colorado (outside of Colorado Springs). Wish there was more information on the locations and the when.
I haven’t checked their site for CA locations, but surprise they don’t already have a big (or bigger) presence there.
In N Out Burger is a family owned chain and doesn’t franchise which is partly why you don’t see them expanding like their main competition Five Guys. It’s probably a good thing they don’t have the growing pains and overexpand like Quizno’s did. Plus In N Out probably feels they cannot uphold their standards if they did the franchise route.
BTW I too am aurprised to not see Dunkin Donuts around in southern CA. Closest thing we can get to them is their coffee bags sold in stores.
They should just change their name to Dunkin’ Coffee, ’cause their “donuts” are terrible.
