McDonald’s Strawberry & Creme Pie

Have you spotted the Strawberry & Creme Pie at McDonald’s? :

Just dropped by McD’s for breakfast before work today and noticed their apple pie dispenser had pies in a burgundy colored box. I asked the cashier what they were and she said they are Strawberry & Creme pies. Not sure if they are a test item or wide market. One other thing I learned is that they got rid of the 2 pies for $1.00 deal when they changed their menu. Boo! You have to pay 89c per pie now…. Chris aka NamebranD

You also can’t get 2 hash browns for a dollar anymore at my McDonalds. Those were pretty awesome for Monopoly pieces.

  2. Sara says:

Spotted at McDonald’s in Quincy, IL. Haven’t tried them yet.

  3. SkippyMom says:

Oh noes Jeff. Not the hashbrowns too. I lament losing the apple pies, but not as much because they haven’t tasted the same since the started baking them [fried rules], but the hashbrowns are still the same and such a deal 2/$1.

As for this strawberry concoction it looks like they are trying to imitate a danish, but the way the cream is up the side separated from the strawberry glop looks like it would be a weird bite. Pass! But thank you for the update on it & the pies. :(

I work at McDonalds, and I’ve never heard of 2 for $1 hash browns.
Also, the pies became two for $1.29 or .69 cents each.
(Differences most likely due to residing in separate states)
In any case, those pies were delicious, and I miss them :(
I can only wait for the S’more ones now :)

Apple pies are now $1.00 each in Orlando,FL., as much as I like them they are not worth that much. The fries have also gone up to $1.29 This is one fast food that is getting too expensive. Especially since they didn’t grow in size. Sorry Mickey D.

I got one of these after seeing a favorable review on another website. I didn’t expect the .89 either but got it anyway. I don’t know if the one I had sat under a heat lamp too long but the creme side was brown at the edges and dried out. The strawberry was okay but in the end I trashed it. This won’t be around long.

OK as a McDonalds employee I can shed some more information.
Apple pies are 69c each its just the “signature” pies (ie the strawberry ones) that are 89c. Hash browns have been $1 each in my area as long as I can remember, never 2/$1. And the Strawberry pie is basically Strawberry Cheesecake and I think it tastes awesome, even expired ones (the employees snatch em up before they get thrown away haha)
And this should be a national thing, McDonald’s is changing up their menu (see previous entry in this blog) maybe some areas are slower than others.
    Just my input

Yea, the overhaul of the dollar menu at mickyD’s really sucks. The two pies for a dollar and the hot fudge Sunday were always on my dollar menu meal. This, though, I had to try. It wasn’t half bad either and if I were to get a fresh one, I bet it would be dang tasty.

My usual order is 2 cherry pies, but those aren’t available. SO I was tempted to try the strawberry and creme. I saw the price ring up and said I’ll have 2 apple pies. They weren’t 2 for a dollar, but it did ring up as $1.20. I was ok with $.60 a pie.

  9. Steve says:

I had one of these today, it was ok. The Cream side was better than I expected but I didn’t care very much for the strawberry side. The texture wasn’t the greatest. The crust was also on the ‘overcooked’ side if that’s even correct to say.

  10. Lindsay says:

I hate the $ menu overhaul. SUCK. This pie looks kinda good though.

  11. Kyle says:

I bought one the other day and shared it with my girlfriend… We both just looked at each other; delicious. Bought a few more of them tonight. These are maybe too good.

  12. Carol says:

My girlfriend from work bought one for me this morning. She announced “this is the next crack!” She was right!

  13. Mary Lee says:

My son and I had one this morning and they were awesome! I hope they bring them on full time. I loved the apple pies until the baking. They just don’t taste so good baked, but these really do. Yuuuummmmm!

    • Cooki says:

When were they ever not baked?
(Speaking of which, when the hell did hash browns ever get baked and not fried?)

  14. Sascha says:

Had one today. Now, I must say, I’ve never tried a pie from McDonald’s so I didn’t know what to expect, but these things are simply awesome. Very warm and crispy pie crust, and very tasty strawberry and cream fillings. Quite unexpected to come from a McDonald’s.

The only fast food desert under $1 I like more would be the caramel apple empanada at TB.

  15. Tony Rock says:

Had one with breakfast this morning and it was ohh so good. Nice and warm plus the two sides blended together nicely. If you haven’t tried it, TRY IT!

  16. Devan says:

I work at McDonald’s as a Front Counter worker, and I often sell these 6 at a time. We have to bake up to 24 at a time, just to fill the orders that were already taken.

The Strawberry and Creme pies are by far the new best seller item, atleast at the McDonald’s I work at.

  17. Robin says:

The Strawberry and Creme pies are absolutely the most delicious item McDonald’s has ever had. Period. And this the best tasting desert item at any fast food chain. It’s just ridiculous how good they are. They are still good even if they are not hot and fresh. But when you buy them just out of the oven hot, it is indeed like crack.

  18. Chelsey says:

I am a fast food dessert pro…these are the bomb Omgeee amazing what will they come up with next!?! Me oh my I love these pies!!!!!

    • PETER OLE says:

I HAVE DISCOVERED PRICING NOT CONSISTANT. I FOUND 2 FOR $1 .69 EACH AND .89 EACH. WISH THEY WOULD GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER

  19. Jenne says:

Just had this here in Fresno, Ca. It was warm…and amazing! YUM! I don’t like overly sweet desserts and this was just perfect… the right mix of strawberry and sweet “kreme”..

  20. Jenie Xiong says:

2 strawberry pie for 1.00 is a great deal! But 89 cent? No! I want 2 for $1 is a great deal for costumers.

    • PETER OLE says:

MCDONALDS IN MEREDITN NH HAS THEM 2/100 I WILL CONTINUE TO GO THERE FOR MY PIES/ OTHER PLACES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE ARE ALMOST 1.00

  21. Scott says:

“Back in the day”, when they made their pies in beef tallow (or whatever it was), I used to love the icing that was on their pies–gave them character. Turns out, it wasn’t icing, but congealed beef tallow!

    Still delicious.

    Am I aging myself here?

  22. rachel says:

I have been in love with their strawberry cream pies since the first day they were added to the menu, I went to get a few this morning & the lady told me it was a seasonal special and they were no longer in stock :'( I was devestated.. does anyone know if they are really gone for good??
