The Bacon Shake from Jack in the Box

February 02, 2012 By: Ryan Category: First Impressions

Thanks to Johnny Estrada for the impressions and pics of the Bacon Shake from Jack in the Box:

I tried the Bacon Shake at Jack in the Box. They use Torani bacon flavored syrup and no real bacon. Sadly there were no bacon pieces, but still delicious. The crew at Jack were very excited to make it.

  1. Dammit. I was just there to pick up the BLT Cheeseburger. I didn’t see a sign or anything for this. Looks like I’m going back tonight.

Bacon does not make everything better.

  4. I love bacon, but that being said I love bacon. Not bacon flavored items or fake bacon sprinkled on things, etc. I’m curious, does this shake have a salty/smoky taste?

  5. I love Bacon but probably would not allow this to pass my lips.

  6. I am sure if you paid extra, you could have bacon pieces put in it.

  7. I’m not sure what’s worse; the fact that they use a bacon flavored syrup, or that such a thing exists in the first place.

  8. I too, tried a bacon shake at JITB just this morning.

What. Is. This. Vile. *&%$. Just awful. Only could take down about 3 hard pulls from the straw, dumped the rest. Nasty taste. Avoid it!

  9. I love bacon, but never thought about, and not sure I’d like it in a liquid form.

Funny thing is I was a World Cost Market a few weeks ago and looking at their Torani syrups and saw bacon flavored. I passed… as I’m pretty sure I will on this as well.

But for anyone that does like it, you can get the bacon flavored syrup at WCM.

  10. Could be worth drinking with your home-prepped ziplock chicken dinner, so you can say, “I had a bacon shake with my Shake n Bake!”

Thanks, folks – I’m here all week. Try the veal!

I’m buying that Torani bacon-flavored syrup for my coffee ASAP!

  12. I tried one last night and it was good! Perhaps overly sweet – it has a strong maple taste – but it certainly wasn’t gross! I probably wouldn’t get it again, but it was definitely fun to try!

  13. When I ordered it I was told that they could not mix the bacon bits in. The over excited girl in a hat behind the counter told me that they couldn’t mix the bacon in because, since they use real ice cream, the milkshake mixer would transfer bacon to other milkshakes. I don’t buy it; wash the damn spinner blades off. But, whatever… wait a minute, just dump the bacon bits on top like the whipped cream. I ordered a side of bacon for $0.78 and dumped it in myself.

The milkshake itself reminded me of when I eat fake maple syrup with my bacon; you know, like when you get a pancake platter and the syrup gets all over the pork meat. There is no discernable maple flavor, just that similar sweetness of your generic “Pancake/Waffle” syrup that is usually made from corn.

It was pleasant, and strangely refreshing. I recommend not getting the whipped cream though. As it melted and mixed in with the milkshake, the liquid smoke flavor of the bacon syrup faded and I was left with a breakfasty sweet vanilla milkshake.

I also recommend leaving the bacon bits out. While providing a cool and satisfying chew along with the smoky flavor of the shake, they created frequent and frustratingly infuriating straw clogging. I think the JITB R&D team probably knew that well before I did.

Also, since I am writing this with my bear butt hanging off the rail of my third floor apartment patio thingy and expelling a rancid mix of what can only be feces and lava straight from hell, I think I just discovered that I have a lactose intolerance.

  14. Of course I had to try this with the BLT burger… and frankly, the burger was a bore.. not even as good as their Big Cheeseburger which I enjoy immensely. But the shake.. I found it pretty damn good for not actually having bacon pieces in it. The syrup has a maple-y, porky, smoky flavor that I really like.. in fact, next time, I think I’ll have them add extra syrup…

  15. I’m holding out for the bacon and eggs with sausage shake

  16. This seems to be a very polarizing product. I’m on the “thumbs-up” side of the fence. If you’re interested in reading a review from the positive side of the coin, check out my post on baconscotch.com

  17. I had one this weekend, and put my thumbs down. I could not even drink it, it was so disgusting. I threw it away and I never through food/drinks away.
