Happy Thanksgiving!
If you could create just one Thankgiving plate, what would you include? Favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Pecan pie rules all. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The roasted carrots and sweet potatos basted by dripping turkey fat for hours in the oven! That, and the crispy skin on a turkey leg
I’m about to try tofurkey for the first time, thanks to my girlfriend. I also have a chicken roasting just in case…
Beer + football + tofurkey = a hopefully happy chefprotoss. =P
Update: tofurkey is suprisingly awesome!
I hope ‘girlfriend’ fits into that happy chefprotoss equation.
Can’t say as I have any desire to try tofurkey; I don’t really like real turkey that much, so I can’t imagine the fake stuff. That being said, I’ve had some mighty tasty tofu dishes.
That reminds me of the Freezer Burns guy review of Tofurkey. He didn’t share your enthusiasm.

Pinot Noir, Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, Green bean casserole made our meal complete. Now watching football
Turkey with oyster dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce [all homemade by me] with a few sweet gherkins and cream cheese stuffed celery [last two are OLD family traditions and I agree, weird] Oh and homemade yeast rolls. YUM!
Favorite dessert is a tie for homemade pumpkin or key lime pie.
But Ryan, what is yours?
One gigantic mountain of homemade stuffing and that’s it.
wow well i’m a kitchen failure so my dream would be:
deep fried turkey, andouille sausage stuffing, cornbread, bojangles biscuits, and garlic greenbeans. that someone else cooked for me.
apple pie a la mode for dessert, maybe? the absence of football would make it even sweeter.
happy turkey day.
For me as far as today went
rice, turkey, salad and dressing and croutons, bush’s baked beans, and baked mac and cheese with a piece of red velvet cake on the side which i took a picture of.
Much like veggie burgers I’m sure the quality changes from brand to brand. With this tofurkey, the texture was almost 100% dead on and I’ll be damned if it didn’t taste like turkey. Mind you, I love ingesting dead flesh. Maybe too much. It was close to what you fund in a Hungry Man Dinner, but actually better. It’s no comparison to perfect turkey thighs or drumsticks, but if I had to choose between tofurkey and a poorly cooked breast or commercial frozen tv dinner turkey, I would choose tofurkey everytime. Tofurkey’s biggest flaw is that it is called “tofurkey”. Maybe the worst food name ever.
I had fake duck at a Thai joint last week that was awesome as well.
Pecan pie from The Pie Hole, Roswell Ga is incredible: packed full of whole pecans. Smoked dark meat turkey is ok, not a big turkey fan though.
