Fast Food Review: BK Chicken Minis from Burger King

BK Chicken Minis are described like this:
Mini premium white meat chicken patties with crisp breading, crunchy dill pickles, finished with classic mayo on a warm, soft bun.
Say what? Premium white meat chicken? Yeah whatever you say BK… Don’t be fooled by the description as the chicken is nothing special whatsoever. It’s simply the substandard processed molded patty of chicken as you’ve come to expect. I’m not debating whether or not this is white meat chicken, but premium this is not. I appreciated the fact that Burger King kept the Chicken Minis pretty simple.

No lettuce (thank goodness because Burger King lettuce is abysmal), no tomato (BK tomatoes suck too)… just mayo and dill pickles. While the pickles had a nice tangy zing to keep things interesting, the mayo was piled on way too heavy. I was surprised that 4 minis clocked in at 810 calories until I realized that at least 300 of those calories must be coming from the glut of mayonnaise… blechhh. Another complaint I have is with having to separate the mini sandwiches myself. Each chicken patty is actually 2 in 1 and you are forced to pull them apart to get your individual mini sandwich. Wah wah… poor Ryan has to pull apart his food… tough life. Well whatever, it’s annoying. Separate them for me BK! Burger King doesn’t separate them on purpose because they think it’s fun or cool to have a little pull-apart diagram on the cardboard box they come in. Weeeeeee!!! Who cares really? Minor gripe, but still a gripe.

The bottom-line with BK Chicken Minis is this: Nothing special, nothing new, nothing I’d feel compelled to buy again. I still like mini food… and lots of it to defeat the purpose of eating small. BK Chicken Minis are gimmicky as expected and not really worth the $3.79 I shelled out for them. I could get 4 Spicy Chick’n Crisp Sandwiches for $4.00 instead and have an even worse stomach ache, but get more food for my money.
- Pros: Decent size for “mini” sandwiches. Few, simple ingredients. Nice packaging.
- Cons: Ease up on the mayo please. There are better values out there. Having to separate my minis. Sheesh, 58 grams of fat.

That divvies up to ninety-five cents a pop for those tiny things! Burger King, do you think I was born yesterday?
1Anything special about the rolls? I could get into something like this if they sourced the slider rolls from Martin’s. Nothing like the squishy sweetness of a potato bun!
Thanks for checking these out Ryan. I keep hearing about menu innovations from BK, but this is nothing special. That chicken looks like a frozen Tyson’s nugget.
2Rolls: Nothing worth mentioning so I failed to mention hehe…
3These things look like the “nuggets” you see in a kids meal on a bun. I remember sausage breakfast shots being pretty solid, these just look terribad.
4Those….do not look good at all.
Maybe the Prophet of Doom, J.B., is correct and Burger King is on its way to extinction.
5Thank you for finally realizing what I have been saying. lol
6Not only does this look terrible, but the price is a scam.
That’s the thing that perplexes me about Burger King. If their business model was low quality but consistently cheap (a la Subway), I would get it. But instead, a lot of their prices on the menu are way too high for the quality you get.
7Ryan,
Thank you for an actual review, would love to see more of them on Grubgrade. Anyway when i read that these were going to be of the premium variety, I like many thought it would be actual chicken breast, needless to say burger king is a liar, and liable for a law suit . How dare they call mechanically separated chicken “premium”. shame on you BK, shame on you.
860 grams of fat for a cut up chicken sandwhich? Ummm… No.
9Typical Burger King. Overpriced, under performing.
They’re lettuce sucks on sandwiches, but their salads are surprisingly good. I don’t get it.
10The amount of mayo shown in your pictures just officially turned me off from trying these anytime soon. Substitute mustard for mayo and then we are in business, and the stats should be better too.
11If only one were capable of speaking the words, “No mayo. Can I have some mustard on the side please?”
You can cut that down to only the first two words if you go inside or have your own mustard at home. This is BK. Supposedly, you can get it your way : )
12The joinder of the pieces of chicken product are the dealbreaker. Shows a real lack of effort on their part.
13Damn. I was hoping these would be good. Does anyone remember Chicken Littles from KFC? They were little mini chicken sandwiches. They were around in the late 80′s or early 90′s, and were delicious.
14They remind me of KFC’s chicken littles! Remember them? We would get them quite often when we were kids. My mom would get them by the bagful due to the awesome taste and cheepness. We were sooo sad when they stopped selling them. I bet they bring them back since other fast food restaurants are selling them. Burger Kings looks yummy, but my gosh I think they are expensive (almost a dollar a piece).
15my friend just got these- she was weirded out how they weren’t separated. Im like, what do you think there hand made or something?? lol
and they looked boring- pickles and mayo? thats it? I dont even like pickles or mayo, and i prefer my meals to be under 58 grams of fat. so. ill pass. hahah
16I’d rather eat an old sock!
17Really? You would rather eat an old sock? Come on…what a ridiculous comment. If you said a new sock, I’d let it slide.
18I think you were being to kind by giving it a 6 out of 10. Looks like something I never want to try.
19So I tried the burger minis today.
Blech.
For some reason, I figured the whole “break apart the mini” thing was just for the chicken ones. Not so. Yes, the burger patty is shaped like a filled in figure 8, and you have to break it apart yourself. I understand this is processed meat and all and they can shape it in whatever way they want, but something is just very, very unappetizing about this.
The burger itself just tasted a bit rubbery; there normal patties are better. It comes with ketchup and a pickle, which doesn’t add much. The roll (I felt) was actually the best part. Nice and soft, seemed to be of a bit higher quality than their normal rolls.
But overall this was not good.
20Just a little note, but the 4 minis are 410 calories, you cited the nutritional information for 8
