Food News: Fruit and Maple Oatmeal from McDonald’s Coming Nationwide In January
via NRN: McDonald’s Corp. said it plans to roll out an oatmeal item to its more than 14,000 restaurants on Jan. 3.
Fruit & Maple Oatmeal, which has been in test since earlier this year, will be available all day long, with or without brown sugar, for $1.99. The item contains 290 calories with sugar and 260 calories without it.
The giant quick-service chain said its oatmeal contains half a cup of fruit — red and green apples, dried cranberries, and golden and regular raisins — as well as five grams of dietary fiber and two-thirds of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s recommended daily allowance of whole grain.

I happen to know they mailed out coupons for a free oatmeal in certain markets. Mine says it is coming out Dec. 24th.
1I am glad to hear this. I was jealous of all the northerners with the positive comments. It’s good to have a healthy option as long as it is low in sugar and sodium.
2Oats and fiber mitigate the effects of sugar, which, like any carb, is energy. People need to get off the “lets burn added sugar at the stake” kick. And a little salt brings out sweet flavors and aids in the cooking of oats anyway.s
3Oh my gosh yay!!! That is completely awesome. I love healthy additions to menus.
4Blarg. I remember when you could count on McDonalds to release a new burger at least once every couple of months. Now the best we get is smoothies and salads and frickin’ oatmeal. I blame Morgan Spurlock.
5agreed! fast food isn’t supposed to be healthy!!! and why buy oatmeal at any restaurant, fast food or otherwise?
6I love the oatmeal at Caribou Coffee soooo much, it’s my favorite “fast food” when I’m on the run and don’t want to feel sickly full from grease and fat. Can’t always find a CC, but I can ALWAYS find a Mickey D’s. Pumped for this new menu addition. I definitely will be buying this a few times a month!
7WELP. THAT LOOKS DISGUSTING TO SAY THE ABSOLUTE LEAST OF WHAT I THINK ABOUT THIS.
8Eat more oatmeal, you live longer!
9I tried the McDonald’s oatmeal for the first time this past weekend. It was great! The fruit was fresh & you got an ample serving of the oatmeal. I can’t wait to buy it again.
10idk mcd’s had oatmeal…looks good!
11McDonald’s Oatmeal. I think it is a good idea but I was
12disappointed when I received my order. I opened the lid and didn’t
see anything but white milky looking water. I like my oatmeal just
a little lumpy, not too thick and not too thin. My oatmeal looked
like soup with no oatmeal, not very appetizing. I hope they train
their employees on how to make the oatmeal it is real simple. I
think they put a little frothed milk from the Latte machine and
some hot water. I thought there would be brown sugar but my oatmeal
had no sweetening in it. I don’t know whether to purchase it
again.
That was my experience too. The milky-soupy consistancy was very unappealing. I ended up putting it in the microwave at work for a 1:30. It was much better. I think offering all dried fruit and nuts would be better than fresh diced apples.
13I hate oatmeal. It can sometimes actually gag me. But I took a chance and this stuff is wonderful. To Keith Hall, try it again. I’ve had it 4 times now and it’s thick and very good. The fruit added it is what give it a kick. This has been a true food surprise for me.
14This morning was my first experience with the maple oatmeal. I REALLY enjoyed it! I loved the fruit at the top. My 4 year old son only ate a few spoons of it because he wasn’t use to eating apples in his oatmeal. I will probably ask them to put his fruit on the side. Kudos to marketing!
15I love oatmeal but this just looks gross. How is it
16texturally? Is it like long cook oatmeal or more like that
wallpaper paste instant crap. I could do with the fruit on the side
instead of in it. What kind of chemicals are they using to keep
those apples…fresh?
I must say, I am not an oatmeal fan to say the least
17however, I took a chance this mornig with the oatmeal at McDonalds
and I was blown away. It was great, I mean; a year ago I would not
have dared to stop at a Mcd’s but now I am game for the coffee and
now the oatmeal. Marekting genious’s I tell you!!
You eat a cup of this after your weight training sessions and you will see changes fast. Oatmeal isn’t the best tasting but I mean it’s not that bad to eat if you’re just wanting something to eat.
18The apples are dipped in lemon to keep thjem from browning Try it
19I had oatmeal with the fruit in at Macdonalds. It was delicious, they should give you some cream or milk with it.
