RememBear This: Fun Dip

September 25, 2009 By: Bear Silber Category: RememBear This

win-pictures-fun-dip1For whatever reason I remember these as a Summertime treat. I picture myself tired from a long Super Soaker battle, sitting on the grass with my back on a tree, the shade barely cooling me down while I lick and dip the candy stick mixing all three flavors. This was such a bad ass candy. I felt like I earned my sugar high, because there was some involvement from my end…. I wasn’t simply just biting a chocolate bar, I earned my keepĀ  :P

This was probably one of the only “fruity” candies I really enjoyed. I’ve never really been a fan of Jolly Ranchers (though I wouldn’t turn one down) and same goes for Now and Laters.

The only problem with this was that inevitably my fingers would get sticky….which made it difficult to start a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos or Crossfire prior to having to find a spigot or sink. I’ll tell you though, that Wonka is one mad genius (side note: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is my all-time favorite movie).

What’s your favorite thing to dip?

  1. Aaah, Fun Dip. Good stuff. I remember when I was very young, I thought I could make Kool-Aid by mixing the Fun Dip powder with water. It didn’t work, lol.

    Now and Laters suck, btw.

  2. Oh yes, I loved my Fun Dip. But the sticks were so damn hard it’s like I’d crack my teeth on it. (or am I not RememBearing right??)

  4. I remember the boys in middle school snorting fun dip on the bus to be “cool.” Ahhhhh adolescence…

  5. Finally!! Something that even I can remember as a child. Of course we didn’t have Super Soakers back in my day. Instead we just had the good ol’ squirt gun.

I loved Fun-Dip, and still do as a matter of fact. I don’t recall the sticks being all that hard either, but I am sure I ran across one or two that were.

I with Bear. I wasn’t all that big of a fan of Jolly Ranchers or Now and Laters. Of course I would never turn one down, but I never went out of my way to by them. I hated how the paper stuck to the Now and Laters.

  6. @Raiders: I thought the Now and Laters themselves tasted like paper, lol. They always seemed really bland to me.

  7. I think the sticks were(are) the best part of it. The hardest part for me was not biting the stick.
