Food News: The Big Carl from Carl’s Jr.
The fast food burger wars are heating up. McDonald’s Angus Third Pounders recently came on the scene to fight the competition of Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s Thickburger market. Now Carl’s has fired back with The Big Carl to compete against the McD’s Big Mac. The Big Carl will have twice the meat and cheese of a Big Mac and priced at $2.49 or less in most locations. McDonald’s Big Macs are typically priced at $3 or more. I love food fights. In the battle of the burgers, the real winner is the consumer. Can’t argue with more food for a lower price.

Two charbroiled beef patties, our classic sauce, two slices of American cheese, and lettuce all on a toasted sesame seed bun.
The Big Carl sure does look delicious. 920 calories and 59 grams of fat delicious.

Yeah, Big Mac has almost 400 fewer calories, though. I’m pretty sure that its a prerequisite for an item to have at least 800 calories before they will put it on the menu at Hardee’s.
1I miss Carl’s now that I’m living in the East Coast… Looking forward to the review.
2Dude! I totally saw this this morning and I wanted to write something on it but I didn’t get around to it….I think it’s awesome!! F-ing Carls Jr. RULES! Sorry for all my craziness. The commercial is hilarious in so many ways.
3I lifted the commercial Bear…thanks!
4So I’m guessing they’re not going to have these at Hardees then? Are those two even the same place anymore?
5Anyone know what Carl’s classic sauce is?
6I can’t stomach McD’s Big Macs – I love them, but they make me nauseous after I eat them – so my husband came up with a solution – he makes them at home and they look ALOT like the Carl’s Jr. Burger pic’. The kids and him have two patties, but since they are handformed [and huge] I can only eat one. So good.
We don’t have a Carl’s here [obviously] but I have Pooldad and he does it just fine.
7@ SkippyMom … Sounds good…let’s see some pics!
8I would love to be a stander-by victim of this food fight, but there’s no Carl’s Jr. around. Dammit! (the name Thickburger sounds better than Angus Burger)
9@ChrisSh: Thats a good question. I have Hardees here, but no Carls. I would really like to try this burger though. Off to check their website I go…
10VERY tasty. It tastes way better than the Big Mac. A lot of meat. its like eating a double Whopper. It doesn’t give you that poisoned feeling that Big Macs give. I would eat this maybe once a month. WAY too much saturated fat and calories to eat everyday
11Great site!!!
I’m disappointed that there is no onions, pickles and not that much thousand island sauce.
12i just ate 2 of these. yummy yummy in my tummy.
13I just had the big carl and it was delish! just looked up the calories here and now I feel huge! it is better than the big mac and any other fast food burger. you can taste the charbroiled and all the cheese! carls jr has the best burgers!
14big carl is so much tastier then a big mac ! as for no pickles or onions , just ask to have them put on , duhhhhhh -way to go carls ! keep up the great things a cummin in the future .
15Actually, You can actually add pickles and onions, Just ask them for it.
I asked them, It was 400% BETTER! It was the best burger ever! It completed it all!! I recommened asking them! It doesn’t cost extra I believe. So try it out! And it’ll be AWESOME
16This burger is pretty damn good. 1.99 around me… such a good deal.
17I think the Big Carl is a good burger on its own but as far as its taste competing with or reflecting that of a Big Mac, it leaves much to be desired. If this burger is meant to take Big Mac lovers from McDonalds, it doesn’t accomplish that. I tried this instead of a Big Mac and was highly disappointed because of the lack of kick that comes with the secret sauce on a Big Mac. Next time I’m craving a Big Mac, the Big Carl won’t even come to mind.
