Regional Grub Battle Royal Northeast Division Voting

Northeast

Okay, here it is, the last regional (and most disputed) voting round. And again I must mention that all places were nominated by readers and GrubGrade makes no distinction as to which ones are actually regional or represent said area. I encourage trying to sway others who may be on the fence and I encourage general flaming for obvious idiotic nominations :)

Voting will remain open until Sunday August 1st at 11:59 PM. Once we got all the regional voting tabulated we will pit all 4 areas against each other to see who stands out as the best of the US! Click here to get it started.

    Cheerwine in the Northeast???? Where????

  2. Harleen says:

I’m from Rhode Island, so this list brings back memories (Friendly’s Fribbles, Stop and Shop, and especially D’Angelo’s subs). Now I’m missing other things that aren’t here: Del’s Lemonade, coffee milk, Papa Gino’s pizza…okay, I’ll stop now! :)

Virginia in the Northeast. That’s an entire state, that last I checked, had nothing to do with the Northeast. Still, we have Cheerwine? :-) Nanner Nanner Nanner!!

Ok, spill! What is Cheerwine? And why don’t I know about it?

  5. drpep says:

It is a cherry type soda, NOT like Dr Pepper as some folks will tell you. It is big in the Carolinas, which are part of the southeast where Virginia belongs.
I don’t recall seeing Sundrop picked as part of the south favs

Raider757 you can keep your Cheerwine :) I’m not a big fan, it did taste good from a fountain though.
I did see Cheerwine in grocery stores in western Pennsylvania along the I-79 corridor about 10 years ago. There is/was a vending machine outside Wal-Mart (as of 6/2006) on Peach Street in Erie that had Cheerwine graphics but no button for Cheerwine.

If one looks close at the map above you can see the border between Pennsylvaia and Maryland. That is the Mason Dixon line which separates the north from the south thereby removing Cheerwine and for the most part Food Lion from the northeast (yes I know there are about 4 Food Lions in southern PA)

Yeah, WV doesn’t belong in the northeast either. Most of the places here I have only seen on vacation to colder climates.

    Cheerwine FTW
