Food News: Cinco de Mayo, Taco Del Mar 5 Pounder Challenge
Move over Bear! There is another eating challenge on the block. This Tuesday is Cinco De Mayo and Taco Del Mar is issuing a challenge, the 5 pounder challenge, to all you big eaters out there. Don’t worry this one is easy, all you have to do is finish the 5 lb behemoth in 30 minutes or less. The burrito is made of 4 flour tortillas and filled to the brim with your choice of chicken or beef, beans, cheese, pico de gallo jalapenos and sauce. This challenge isnt just for pride or your picture on the wall, there are prizes at stake. Those who complete the task receive a $20 Taco Del Mar gift card and other paraphanalia from the restaurant.
I love Mexican food but there is not way I could finish this beast, can you? Someone take one for the team and give it at try and let us know how you fared. Stay tuned to GrubGrade for more Mexican inspired posts next week for Cinco De Mayo!!!

It costs $17.99
$3.60 per pound. Count me out of this one.
I saw that they were doing that. I want to try it
Here’s a video of its construction:
That’s insane.
I saw something similar on a food show. I just can’t remember which one. I was a mom & pop place, and not a chain though. The one I saw was longer than the one in the YouTube video, and looked better as well to be expected.
I would like to think I can eat one, but only if I can have it my way. I hate beans, and sour cream gets in the way of the flavor.
@Raiders757 – Probably Man v Food at Iguana’s (in San Jose, my town!), here’s the video:
I did 3 mondo burritos in 10 minutes and 12 seconds to see how I would do with the challenge. I’ll say this will be a piece of cake. First burrito took only 45 seconds! Haha
